NOW HIRING FOR SUMMER STUDENT FULL-TIME POSITIONS:


The Highland Art Theatre Society is a not-for-profit organization whose mandate is to foster the theatre community in Sydney's downtown, to work with our artists and musicians to help drive an arts-based economy by developing a professional community of performing artists who produce first class, home-grown productions with a special emphasis on Cape Breton stories and song.  
 

We are looking to fill several Summer Student positions for 2018.
 

Apprentice Theatre Practitioner, Sydney, NS            
8 week summer grant,  $11.00/hour for 35 hours/week

In collaboration with Artistic Director, the Apprentice Theatre Practitioner will ensure the smooth running of several aspects of our summer season.  Key responsibilities include:

•    Performing in main stage productions
•    Box office management
•    Concession stand work
•    Additional duties as required

Successful candidates must: 

•    Be permanent residents of Nova Scotia.
•    Be a full-time student in an accredited post-secondary institution or a graduating grade 12 student who is enrolled full-time in a university or college program in the coming fall term.
•    Have experience with acting, event management, and/or the service industry.
 

Apprentice Stage Manager, Sydney, NS            
8 week summer grant,  $11.00/hour for 35 hours/week

In collaboration with Artistic Director and production Stage Managers, the Apprentice Stage Manager will ensure the smooth running of several aspects of our summer season.  Key responsibilities include:

•    Assist stage manager of main stage productions
•    Box office management
•    Concession stand work
•    Additional duties as required

Successful candidates must: 

•    Be permanent residents of Nova Scotia.
•    Be a full-time student in an accredited post-secondary institution or a graduating grade 12 student who is enrolled full-time in a university or college program in the coming fall term
•    Have experience with stage management, event management, and/or the service industry


Apprentice Sound Technician, Sydney, NS            
8 week summer grant,  $11.00/hour for 35 hours/week

In collaboration with Artistic Director, the Apprentice Sound Technician will ensure the smooth running of several aspects of our summer season.  Key responsibilities include:

•    Assist sound technician of main stage productions
•    Box office management
•    Concession stand work
•    Additional duties as required

Successful candidates must: 

•    Be permanent residents of Nova Scotia.
•    Be a full-time student in an accredited post-secondary institution or a graduating grade 12 student who is enrolled full-time in a university or college program in the coming fall term
•    Have experience with sound engineering, music, and/or technical direction (theatre experience a plus)
 

Marketing and Promotions Assistant, Sydney, NS            
8 week summer grant,  $11.00/hour for 35 hours/week

In collaboration with Artistic Director, the Marketing and Promotions Assistant will ensure the smooth running of several aspects of our summer season.  Key responsibilities include:

•    Managing social media posts
•    Assisting the Community Engagement Coordinator as required
•    Promotional work for all productions and events in our Summer Season
•    Maintaining and developing unique marketing plans for the HAT
•    Additional duties as required

Successful candidates must: 

•    Be permanent residents of Nova Scotia.
•    Be a full-time student in an accredited post-secondary institution or a graduating grade 12 student who is enrolled full-time in a university or college program in the coming fall term
•    Have experience with social media, marketing and/or promotions (theatre experience a plus)
