CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: HIGHLAND ARTS THEATRE GENERAL AUDITIONS - 2023 FALL SEASON
AUDITION CALL FOR MALE, FEMALE, & NON-BINARY ACTORS (Ages 10 & Up with any level of experience)
This Fall, we will be hosting Video Auditions for anyone wishing to be considered for performing opportunities for the 2023 Fall Season at the Highland Arts Theatre. This is a general call to gauge interest and meet people. Callbacks for specific shows will be scheduled at a later date on a case-by-case basis - and throughout the year for the 2024 Season.
Anyone wishing to be considered for any of our 2023 Fall productions should submit for consideration.
Perspective productions include:
JACK AND THE BEANSTALK - A MUSICAL COMEDY PANTOMIME

All Genders, ages 15+
Performance Dates: November 22 to 26, 2023
THE CONFIDENTIAL MUSICAL THEATRE PROJECT
Performance Dates: Year-round, Ongoing (Sept 30 is the next one)
HAT ACADEMY FALL SHOWCASE (Primarily cast from the HAT Academy Resident Company classes, however, soloists may be cast from these auditions. All genders, ages 7+)
Performance Dates: December 1 & 2, 2023
A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Encore Production, all genders, ages 8+)
Performance Dates: December 7 to 10, 2023

The Highland Arts Theatre is always seeking to mirror the vast diversity of culture in the social fabric of Unama’ki/Cape Breton Island. Our work seeks to provoke discussion and redefine traditions of identity and character. Therefore, we encourage submissions from artists of all backgrounds, including, but not limited to, race, gender, body type, ethnicity, ability, and members of other under-represented communities. We welcome applicants to inform us of their pronouns and to include details about how their identity informs their artistic practice, should they wish.
Singers, musicians, and dancers are also encouraged to audition - no acting experience required. Please indicate in your submission if you play an instrument or have dance experience.

1) Recent photo (professional quality not necessary)
2) Theatrical Resumé (if applicable - no experience required)
3) Please indicate which of our upcoming projects you are interested in (Jack and the Beanstalk, Confidential Musical Theatre Project, HAT Academy Showcase, A Christmas Carol).
WHAT TO PREPARE - VIDEO AUDITION:
For your video audition, please prepare one Contemporary Monologue OR one Musical Theatre song from a show of your choice – each piece should be no more than 2 minutes. If you choose a song, please use a karaoke track or piano accompaniment in your video.
If you are interested in Jack and the Beanstalk, you may perform a Pop Song instead of a song from a Musical, but please perform it as a character from Jack and the Beanstalk (creativity in performance and song choice is a must).
If you would like to be considered for plays and musicals, you may choose to prepare BOTH a monologue and song.
